Egghead Professor Goolsbee Defends Obama’s Spending Record

What kind of blind, fool would claim–in the year 2012–that “Washington Isn't Spending Too Much”?

Answer: Leftist propagandist Austan Goolsbee, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, and chairman of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers from 2010 to 2011.

Yes, the egghead professor embarrasses himself in this WSJ article, attempting to defend the Obama spending record with a combination of sleight of hand, demagoguery, and outright lies. Reader comments regarding Goolsbee’s arguments are overwhelmingly negative (about 10 to 1). Were the same article to appear in the NY Times, it would no doubt draw praise to the Leftist in similar proportions.

In short, Austan Goolsbee is to the profession of Economist, what Bernie Madoff is to profession of Financial Adviser.

Fortunately, Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute tears Goolsbee’s pro-tax propaganda to shreds, in the point-by-point rebuttal below.
